Cary, Richard Milton,born 1835; Lawyer in Richmond; Captain of prewar militia F Company. Enlisted April 21, 1861 as Captain; resigned on May 15, 1861; promoted colonel of 30th Virginia Regiment of Infantry June 15, 1861 and was ordered in 1862 to Belona Arsenal to supervise the making of cannon for the army and navy. In 1865 he was ordered to Goldsboro, North Carolina, and surrendered with Johnston's army. After the war, he emmigrated to England where he was a tobacco and cotton merchant. He died March 15, 1886 in Woodfield, Budock, and is buried Falmouth, Cornwall. John Collier, of the CSA-E (an organiztion whose goal is to find, document and honour the gravesite of every Confederate serviceman buried in Britain.), sent these pictures of Colonel Cary’s burial site.
